Why people hate

Herman Hesse said: ”If you hate a person, you hate something in them that is a part of yourself. What isn’t part of ourselves doesn’t disturb us.”

It is totally OK to be disliked and to dislike. We all have our own preferences. It always has to do with something about them or with something about us. But some people go even further than that, some people can really hate other people and this is something I will never understand.

The worst part is that it has become socially accepted too.

Some people hate out of fear, some hate what they don’t understand. They reject those who think or look differently. The majority of people were still not able to accept diversity.

Hate in general is lying in the eye of the giver, not of the receiver. It is also possible that people hate others because of what they reflect about them too, as Herman Hesse , German-born novelist said.

There is also a new category of people nowadays. They call them selves ”haters” and they are proud of what they do. They just love to hate. Hate makes them feel cool, it gives them some kind of authority and power. I am talking about the ”someone is wrong on internet” kind of people. I already wrote a blog post regarding this category of people, check the link above.

We’ve been taught from our childhood, but also through history that the best defense is to attack, is that a reason why people love to hate others?

Anyhow hating others is personal decision. I ‘m not the perfect person. I also like or dislike people and opinions of others all the time, but at least I never hated anybody in my life.

Epictetus was a Greek Stoic philosopher. He said in his teaching that: ”Any person capable of angering you becomes your master, he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him.” I think we should all have in mind this teaching, when we feel tempered because of somebody’s actions or reactions.

I will share with you few more quotes about hate that I discovered on internet. I hope you will like it and learn something from it.

For this blog post I used mostly dogs images.  The reason is that in my opinion dogs are too innocent to hate. Dogs are not just sweet but their hearts are full of love.

All they know is love, even if it is not reciprocated. Dogs are very empathetic in general.

Dogs can also pick vibes. I used to notice this at times when my dogs were alive. They were able to understand it whenever I was sad or upset. They always did their best to comfort me with their pure love.

So let’s focus on our main subject here, even though you might feel much better when some people are not around, you can simply avoid them, don’t hate them. Hate is capable of poisoning your heart, so you will slowly forget how to love and love is a beautiful feeling.

If you wondered where I got the photos of these beautiful seagulls, for the quotes background, I captured them myself on my recent trip to the Greek island Thasos. I uploaded an article about my experience there you are welcome to check it out. Share love as much you can, but don’t forget to love yourself as well.

Peace, brothers & sisters!
